Organic Turmeric Powder

Steenbergs Organic Turmeric is an ochre coloured, earthy tasting spice that is the key to Indian cookery.  It is one of those quintessential spices - almost too brightly coloured like a water-based paint powder, an earthy flavour and just a hint of warmth and all from a boring looking root (rhizome) that lurks in the ground.  What makes mustard yellow? It isn't the mustard seed, it's the turmeric - Steenbergs organic turmeric has a very intense, bright yellow-orange colour. Use only ½ of the organic turmeric that a recipe calls for in pickles, mustard or Indian cooking. Use Steenbergs organic turmeric for a whole variety of curries and it can also be used to colour rice rather than saffron.
